The craft markets you can visit on Birmingham’s hottest streets this weekend

Two of Birmingham’s hottest streets will be transformed into markets this weekend as communities come together to sell local produce. Edgbaston Craft Market will take place on Greenfield Crescent on Saturday 8 June, while Kings Heath’s cool York Road will be the setting for the Kings Heath Craft Market on Sunday 9 June.

Both roads made our list of the city’s coolest streets, with the local markets contributing to the overall personality of two very different parts of the city. Edgbaston is known for having very strict rules for residents, while at night York Road turns into a large beer garden and car-free restaurant zone!

Both venues will host local producers and artisans selling food, drinks, gifts and more. Here’s what you need to know about each.

Edgbaston Craft Market

Held between 10am and 3pm on beautiful Greenfield Crescent (B15 3AU), Edgbaston Artisan Market is particularly good for food and drink, including pastries, cheese, beer, chocolate and fresh produce.

Additionally, the area is home to some cool cafes and restaurants, including Smoke and Ash, a pizzeria with an outdoor pizza garden. At the time of writing, the Met Office has Saturday as a dry day, so fingers crossed.

There is free parking for two hours, but it’s best to take public transport if you can. Edgbaston is on the tram route, bus routes and if you’re prepared it’s not that much of a walk from the city centre!
