Armed robbery and police officer seriously injured in day of violence in Cornwall

Police were kept busy in Cornwall yesterday (Thursday June 6) following several violent incidents. From armed robbery and burglary to hit and run, officers were called to several incidents throughout the day.

A man was attacked in his home in Troon yesterday afternoon. Two people entered a property in Newton Road armed with tools.




The victim was injured as the armed robbers attacked him. His injuries are not believed to be serious. The burglars did not take anything from the property.

Later that day, around 11 p.m., two gas stations were targeted. It is not yet known if the two are related, but police are investigating both.

Two masked men used guns to enter a business premises on Southbourne Road, St Austell. The hooded men demanded money and left the scene on foot with a small amount of cash.

A short time later, at around 11.40pm, officers were called to a suspected burglary in St Austell. Police believe keys were taken from a property at around 11.25pm ​​and a red VW Golf drove into town.

The VW was spotted by an officer in the forecourt of Applegreen service station on Penwinnick Road. The officer approached the vehicle but became stuck as it fled the scene.
