Pub near Coventry where children can pet and feed farm animals

Summer is here, which means it’s that time of year to spend long, lazy days in a beer garden soaking up the sun while enjoying a few pints and a delicious meal. And if you find a pub that offers children’s entertainment, you can spend hours relaxing while they burn off their energy – a win-win situation.

A pub near Coventry does just that – The Bull and Butcher located in Corley Moor. The pub has retained its traditional public bar features with old beams, real fires, stone floors and cozy shelters and has created a ‘crowded’ restaurant with a reputation for home cooked pub classics.

Owner Anne Huckvale worked at the Bull and Butcher as bar staff in the 1970s and has run the boozer for more than 20 years. She has lived in the area for almost 60 years and has transformed the pub from a struggling locale into a destination country pub for people to visit.

As well as being an ideal meeting place for locals, visitors can indulge in hearty pie-of-the-day dishes (such as rabbit, leg of lamb and steak and ale), traditional Sunday roasts and a full English breakfast served until at 11 a.m., which have proven to be a favorite among diners.

For the children, the pub was ideal for a family day out. The large garden has been transformed, which includes a children’s play area and an animal farm that is home to two guinea pigs, ponies, six rescue donkeys and a 36-inch miniature horse. Eysore the donkey is the “star of the show”, say bosses.

The garden is described as ‘almost a dreamland’ for children, with several play areas for all age groups, from a bouncy castle, sand pit and slides to keep the kids happy. Kids can even pet and feed the animals, and you can buy bags of pet food from the bar while you enjoy a drink and relax in one of the outdoor dining pods – be it in the sun or rain.
