LFC is Premier League’s most engaged club with 1.5 billion social media fan engagements in 2023-24

The club saw an impressive 39% increase in engagements compared to last season, highlighting LFC’s incredible global growth and its highly creative and original organic content.

Recent social statistics from Blinkfire Analytics cover all major platforms, including Facebook, X, TikTok and Instagram – the latter being the most engaged channel overall for the Reds.

More than 61% of the 1.5 billion engagements were on Instagram, with content that included emotional moments such as Liverpool fan Dáire Gorman’s visit to the AXA Training Center and funny team meetings about World Earth Day.

The club has 186 million social followers across platforms and varies content across channels.

The Reds are also the most watched European football club globally in domestic league and cup matches. Nielsen recently confirmed that the club had a cumulative global TV audience of 415 million from August 2023 to March 2024. LFC is also the most watched club for home matches alone.

And just last week, the Reds hit 10 million subscribers on YouTube – officially the first Premier League club to reach the milestone, joining an elite group of YouTube creators with a Diamond Play Button.

Drew Crisp, Senior Vice President of Digital at Liverpool FC, said: “Another incredible digital milestone to be reached this season, cementing our position as digital leaders and innovators.

“Social media is 24/7 and to achieve this level of engagement with our follower base shows the quality of our content and the impact of our coverage throughout the season.

“Our strategic focus has been to drive engagement on every platform and grow followers in a highly competitive space. It takes a huge team effort to continue to create original, engaging content that resonates with our global fan base and fits each individual channel. This season we also had two new channels introduced with Threads and WhatsApp channels.

“Achieving this level of engagement is no easy feat and I’m very proud of the tireless work from our digital team this season.”
