M6 closure warning as emergency services respond to crash

Police are warning drivers to avoid part of the M6 ​​with a section closed. Track emergency services responding to an accident.

It happened at junctions 2, for Coventry, and 3, for Bedworth. The roadway was initially closed in both directions between those intersections. Footage from the scene showed a car on its roof.




Warwickshire Police warned motorists to “avoid the area and take an alternative route”. The northbound carriageway was later reopened, but the southbound portion remains closed.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the force said: “Emergency services are currently responding to a collision on the #M6 between junctions 2 and 3 – the road is closed between junctions 2 and 3 northbound and 3 and 2 southbound. avoid the area and take an alternate route.”

In an update, West Midlands National Motorways posted: ‘The #M6 northbound junction has been cleared and is fully open. Remains closed southbound between J3 #Bedworth and J2 #Coventry due to earlier collision”.

Traffic data monitor Inrix posted: “M6 Southbound closed, traffic queued due to crash, lorry and overturned car involved between J3 A444 Bedworth Bypass (Nuneaton / Coventry) and J2 M69 (Coventry).”
