Two secret Cornwall beaches named among the best to visit this summer to avoid the crowds

Two of Cornwall’s beaches have been highlighted as the perfect spots for those looking to escape the crowds this weekend. Whether you’re planning a family day out, an adventure with friends, or just want some alone time, going to the beach is a great way to escape the daily grind.

The UK boasts over 11,000 miles of coastline and countless beaches, but a quick Google search will usually point you to the busiest spots. However, The Telegraph has come up with a list of 20 hidden gems where you can avoid the summer crowds – and Cornwall’s Bream Cove and Pedn Vounder did the trick.

Bream Cove overlooks Falmouth Bay and is just north of the Helford Estuary. The beach is a great place for swimming and has become popular for snorkelling and diving, but you have to be careful as there are no lifeguards or safety equipment around.

According to the Telegraph, Bream Cove is a “south-east facing sand and shingle cove”. The expert added: “(It’s) a great alternative to Falmouth’s busier beaches – and the walk through the woods to get to it from Mawnan Smith village gives it real Famous Five vibes.

“One of the only dog-friendly beaches in the area during the summer, Placia’s calm waters also make it a great spot for paddle boarding, and there’s a coffee and cake truck at the top of the beach.”

The second Cornish beach named is Pedn Vounder, the name translates from the Cornish ‘pedn’ meaning head or end and ‘vounder’ meaning lane, so the beach means ‘end of the lane’. It is located near Land’s End and is famous for its turquoise waters and white sandy shore.
