Simpson The latest Grand Slammer to return. – Sheffield Steelers

“Let’s defend our trophies,” says Simmer

“Back to defending our titles,” says Mark Simpson

Mark Simpson will return to the Steelers next season after agreeing to a new deal with head coach Aaron Fox

Simpson played 51 games for the club in our Grand Slam campaign, scoring 13 goals and 32 points

“It was a no-brainer for me,” said Simpson, “I loved the city, I loved my club, my team-mates and of course the fans. The chance to come back and defend our three titles, as well as the chance to play in the Champions League, I wasn’t walking away from that

“It was the first time I won at professional level, it was an incredible experience after such a year of highs and lows. The bond that group had is something none of us will ever forget

“We bought in from day one and I expect the group we have next year to do the same. I’m sure there will be a core group coming back that will just want to keep winning.”

The CHL was an exciting addition for the second year, as Simpson explained: “We all want to play at the highest level, test ourselves individually and as a team. The CHL gives us this opportunity and I can’t wait to get started, I think we’re going to surprise a few people for sure”

Head coach Aaron Fox welcomed ‘Simmer’ back to the team saying “Mark made a huge impact in our group last year and I couldn’t be happier to have him back in the Orange.

“He’s a guy who can play up and down our lineup and create matchup problems against other teams.

“Simmser skates so well for his size and closes down the defensive play quickly.

“He was a top PK guy for us as well and he was a player in the second half of the season. He’s the kind of player teams need if you want to win.”
