PWHL champion Minnesota waives general manager Natalie Darwitz

A week after winning the Women’s Professional Hockey League championship, Minnesota general manager Natalie Darwitz is out of a job.

The league announced Saturday that the team has “parted ways” with Darwitz.

Darwitz, a three-time Olympic medalist with the US national team and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame, was hired in September 2023.

She assembled the Minnesota team that captured the first Walter Cup in a five-game series with Boston.

The PWHL, which owns all six teams in the league, said in a statement that there is no immediate timetable for naming a new general manager.

The league says Minnesota head coach Ken Klee and his staff will make the team’s player selections in Monday’s PWHL draft.

“We appreciate everything Natalie has done for PWHL Minnesota in the league’s inaugural season and her contribution to the team’s championship success. We wish him continued success,” said PWHL Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations Jayna Hefford.
