The story behind the famous Wakefield, which sells Prime without a licence

Viral, unlicensed Wakey Wines has reinstated his account after being banned from TikTok.

The account, which advertised Prime drinks worth up to £100 each, was wrongly removed for breaking the rules but has now been restored.

Wakefield Wines, an off-licence in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, has gained over 500,000 followers on TikTok after going viral for allegedly selling Logan Paul and KSI booze at exorbitant prices.

Shop owner Mohammed Azar Nazir shares videos of his customers joining in with his catchphrases: “What is the best shop in Wakey? Wakey Wines’, ‘Abdul Come Closer Abdul Come Back’ and ‘Bingo Bingo, Gala Bingo’.

Its customers travel hundreds of miles to get their hands on the Prime drink, which sells out quickly in supermarkets where it costs around £2 a bottle. Off license, it is also famous for selling WFD sweets.

But Nazir’s TikTok success hung in the balance on Monday, January 9, as Wakey Wines’ account was banned from the social media platform. Nazir confirmed the ban on Sunday, January 8.

“Hi guys today there is a well known influencer trying to tarnish my business that I have built over the years,” read a statement from Wakey Wines posted on Instagram.

“Now I got banned from TikTok at 500,000 (subscribers), I worked so hard for this.”

He added: “All my videos are for fun, I saw a WFD sweets business idea just like any other businessman and jumped at the chance.

“Some horrible and jealous people. Please report these posts and help me! Thanks always to my fans, Wakey Wines.”

However, the account was restored on Monday. A TikTok spokesperson said: “We’re open about the fact that we don’t get every moderation decision right and have reinstated the Wakey Wines account. We hope they will continue to use TikTok to promote their business.”

The store has come under fire for selling Prime drinks well above the recommended retail price.

Nazir claims the stores’ markup is low and he pays “an arm and a leg” to his supplier.

KSI, who co-founded Prime drink with YouTuber Logan Paul, told fans: “No, you don’t pay that much for Prime. I know people want Prime, well just wait or camp Asda nice and early, get into Asda nice and early and pay £2, well £2 for Prime.”

However, some social media users have speculated that Wakey Wines is not really selling bottles of Prime for £100 and that it is simply a marketing stunt.

In a video celebrating his return to the platform, Nazir thanked his supporters for helping him “reactivate” his account and also used the moment to promote his WFD sweets.
