Event Thrills Cornwall Kids Bikes and Badges

Cornwall Police Service (CPS) held their annual Bikes & Badges event on Saturday 1st June 2024 at St. Lawrence College. The event provided children with free bike inspections and lessons on bike safety and the rules of the road. After a warm-up session, the kids navigated an obstacle course to test their cycling skills.

Police Chief Shawna Spowart praised the event, saying, “One of the things I love about this event is that it’s grassroots. It was created by the officers themselves. They had an idea and a vision that we can see today many years later. I would describe this event as a flagship event for our organization.”

“The kids and the officers love it, and it’s a huge success every year … We see the kids and the officers interacting, which I think is meaningful and something they’ll carry with them throughout their lives,” Spowart added. Many children in attendance had fun while learning about safety.
