Bristol Harbor Festival 2024: everything we know about the event so far

Bristol Harbor Festival returns to the city’s iconic harbor and surrounding area in July – and this year promises to be an event full of both new and old.

This year’s program includes steamboat races, a steamboat procession, new stages and performance areas, lots of stalls and places to eat and drink, lifesaving demonstrations, dance bands, live music and more others.

When and where is Bristol Harbor Festival 2024?

Bristol Harbor Festival 2024 takes place from 19-21 July at various locations including Bristol’s Floating Harbour, around the Harbourside, Queen Square and many partner food and drink venues across the city. You can find more information about there on the official website here.

Do I need to buy a ticket for Bristol Harbor Festival 2024?

The entire festival weekend is completely free, so you won’t need to purchase a ticket. You can make a donation at the event or spend your money on food and drink from official festival bars or food vendors while you’re there – this will help make Harbor Fest a free event for all.

How do I get to Bristol Harbor Festival?

Festival organizers say: “We always encourage the public to walk, cycle or take public transport to our events. There are plenty of bike paths and bike parking will be available nearby.

“As a city center festival, this event is easily accessible by public transport and is served by Bristol Temple Meads within walking distance. If you must drive, we encourage you to plan your trip to Harbor Festival in advance – please visit here.

“During busy times, please be patient and considerate of other festival goers. A one-way pedestrian system could operate at peak times across the Pero Bridge from Anchor Square to Queen Square.

“Whether you plan to cover the entire site or just focus on one or two areas, the following distance can help you plan your day:

• Queen Square at Brunel’s SS Great Britain: 0.63 miles; about 15 minutes
• Queen Square to Millennium Square: 0.53 miles; about 10 minutes
• Queen Square to College Green: 0.4 miles; About 8 minutes
• Queen Square to Cathedral Walk: 0.5 miles; about 10 minutes
• Millennium Square at Brunel’s SS Great Britain: 0.64 miles; about 10 minutes by ferry

Temple Meads Station to:

• Queen Square: 0.68 miles; about 15 minutes

Who is this year’s official charity partner?

The festival will team up with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) for 2024 as its official charity partner to bring a “fantastic nautical showcase”, including lifeguard demonstrations from the RNLI and fundraising for to support the charity throughout the weekend. It comes as the RNLI celebrates its 200th anniversary this year.

Are dogs welcome at Bristol Harbor Festival 2024?

According to festival organizers: “Dogs are welcome but must be kept under control at all times and please remember to clean up after them.”
