Leeds United have issued a new transfer warning despite Red Bull’s investment

Leeds United must sell some of their key stars this summer, a football finance expert insists.

After failing to secure promotion back to the Premier League, Daniel Farke’s men will spend a second successive season in the second tier after narrowly missing out on the Championship play-off final against Southampton.

In what has been a bitter pill to swallow, the Whites’ late-season woes mean they must now focus on balancing the books and, despite recent investment from energy drink magnate Red Bull, talented stars such as Willy Gnonto, Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville could be forced out of Elland Road.

“Leeds United have done well financially in terms of financial performance but have a significant liability of over £100m in transfer fees,” began sports finance expert Professor Rob Wilson , speaking to OLBG.

“The reality of revenues at Championship level is that they will be 50% lower next year than they were probably in the first year after relegation because of reduced parachute payments and TV payments.

“So as an entity they’re shrinking and they’re going to have to meet those obligations. The only way they can do that logistically is to sell a few players and try to generate some pretty big commissions for them that can be used to offset that debt. .
