Cresswell wanted, £3 million is the asking price

Leeds United man Charlie Cresswell is wanted by clubs in France and Germany, according to Alan Nixon.

Leeds United are gearing up for another year in the Championship this season. Failure to beat Southampton in the play-off final last month means Daniel Farke’s side must go again in 2024/25.

Cresswell, 21, made just seven senior appearances for the Whites last season.

The defender has racked up just over 130 Championship minutes on five separate occasions, while featuring twice in Premier League 2.

Now it appears that, after much speculation over his future, he is set to leave with Nixon reporting that Toulouse, Hannover and Hertha Berlin are all eyeing the England youth international this summer.

Nixon also claims that Farke’s side will demand around £3m plus add-ons to sell their academy product during this transfer window.

There is no lack of interest

The 21-year-old has shown he can compete at a championship level. He spent a year on loan at The Den with Millwall, where he made 28 second-tier appearances, contributing six goals from the back.

He still has a lot of potential to fulfill and could be a very good talent one day. However, it seems the current situation at Elland Road means his development is best suited elsewhere and a move looks inevitable this summer.

Farke’s squad will be busy in this transfer window. They are expected to lose a few of their current squad but will need replacement and it will be interesting to see how they manage to do that this time around.

No room for mistakes

Leeds United will once again be expected to be a promotion contender next season.

Farke’s record is good and the German boss will be hoping not to leave it to the fate of the play-offs this time.

A strong start is imperative to avoid losing ground to anyone and hitting the ground running could see White start to run away with things early.

It could be argued that the second tier doesn’t look as strong this coming year as it did last year. The three newly relegated teams are arguably weaker than they were last season and that opens the door for the likes of Leeds United who have a squad that is largely too good for the Championship.

But, there is a lot of work to be done over the summer and a long way to go before fans get a chance to see if the right preparation has been done in the pre-season.
