David Beckham says Manchester United players should find no extra motivation for the upcoming FA Cup final or any game, saying every game should be treated as a must-win.

The Red Devils are not in good form after a home draw with Burnley was followed by a 4-0 defeat at Crystal Palace.

Those results left them eighth in the Premier League ahead of tough games against Arsenal, Newcastle United and Brighton to complete their league campaign.

After that comes an even tougher test as they face Manchester City in the FA Cup final, which could be a dream or nightmare finish to the campaign.

Beckham sought to remind the current Manchester United players that it is up to them to be fully motivated at all times, be it the huge clash with City or any other competitions, taking responsibility for their performances while that their manager, Erik ten Hag, is under serious pressure.

“You’d hope the manager doesn’t have to do much,” he told talkSPORT of what Erik ten Hag needs to do to get his squad going.

“I think that’s what being a Manchester United player is all about and playing in these big games.

“You know you should be motivated when you’re a professional footballer and you’re doing the job you love and you’re at the club you love.

“Whether it’s a regular season game or an FA Cup final against your rivals, that should be motivation enough.

“If it’s not, then you’re on the wrong team and playing the wrong sport.

“I think at the end of the day we went into every game, wherever it was a Youth Cup game, a friendly or a European Cup final, with the same mentality and the same drive.

“That’s what you would hope for any team and any Manchester United player going into an FA Cup final.

“I hope the current players can take inspiration from our achievements.”
