The crash near Coventry leaves the M6 ​​closed for hours

A crash between a lorry and an overturned car forced the closure of part of the M6 ​​for more than five hours.

Emergency services attended the collision between junctions two and three, near Coventry.

Both roads were affected, before National Highways West Midlands confirmed the motorway was fully reopened at around 15:00 BST.

The extent of the injuries from the accident was not immediately known.

Warwickshire Police also confirmed the motorway had reopened by mid-afternoon.

Among those caught in the resulting traffic were rugby league fans heading to Wembley for the one-man Challenge Cup final. post on X that he was stuck on the highway “for over an hour.”
