Tasmanian teenagers caught by police after slashing tires in Sheffield

Three youths have been identified by police as the alleged offenders in a ‘tire slashing’ incident in Sheffield.

The youths are accused of damaging vehicles on the town’s main street in the early hours of May 24.

Police launched an investigation into the case, and with the help of the Sheffield community, the trio were tracked down.

Sergeant Jeremy Williams said the youths had been interviewed and would be prosecuted under the provisions of the youth justice system.

Authorities hope to hold more young offenders accountable to “ensure they are educated about the consequences of their actions”

“The police would also like to remind members of the community to report such issues directly to the police rather than to community message boards on social media.”

“This will ensure a timely response and help us effectively reduce crime.”
