Live: A suspected bomb has landed on a Cornish beach

A suspected bomb revealed by the outgoing tide on a Cornish beach has now been hidden again by the incoming tide.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed they were alerted by the RNLI at 1.24pm this afternoon to a suspected WWII bomb at Trevaunance Bay, St Agnes. HM Coastguard then took precedence over the matter and the area was cordoned off.

The Royal Navy’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) was then called in to examine the device. However, police said the object was again covered by the tide.

CornwallLive has contacted HM Coastguard for updates.

The incident sounds complicated

Police told Cornwall Live that the suspected bomb was found on the beach, prompting a cordon to be erected. However, the tide came in and covered the bomb back. We understand he is still on the beach this evening.
