A man appears in court accused of murdering Robert Hiscoe

A man will go on trial later this year accused of murdering Robert Hiscoe.

Nathaniel Philip, 35, who is not above, made his first appearance at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday charged with Robert’s murder. Robert died following a serious attack at The Butterbowl pub in Farnley. Emergency services attended the scene at 1.22am on Sunday 5 May and Robert was rushed to hospital where he died.



Tributes have since poured in for Robert, a Leeds United fan, with one social media user describing him as a “talented singer” who previously performed at The Butterbowl.

It is also understood that Robert used his musical talents to raise thousands of pounds for the NHS during the Covid-19 lockdown. Several tributes also noted that he was a “devoted father”.

A post shared on a Leeds United Facebook group said: “29,000 members but we’ve lost one, today we lost a friend, one of the biggest Leeds fans I’ve ever known. He raised thousands for the NHS in isolation and sang his heart out everywhere. he went.

“Words cannot express what it means to this club, your friends and family. We will love and remember you forever.”

Jordan Webb wrote: “Always there to support others. Such a sad day for all who knew you Rip Robert Hiscoe.”

Paul Wilson said: “I don’t know where to start, a talented singer, a great friend, a wonderful father, a devoted husband and one of the most loyal Leeds United fans I have ever met, so I we are talking about an incredible drink. mate… Not many people I know will ever be loved as well as you, light up any room with your charming ways and never bring anyone down, for nothing.

“Thank you for bringing so much happiness and joy to so many people during lockdown and raising loads of money, ironically for the NHS. No one I know would ever do that, to give up night after night, week after week, of your time to keep people in good shape, you should be knighted, not gone.”

Friends of Robert have launched a fundraiser to help his wife Christina and their two daughters Nevaeh and Nyla. 10% of funds raised will also go to the NHS. You can donate to the fundraiser here.

Mr Philip was told he will next appear at Leeds Crown Court on June 6 this year for a plea, trial and preparation hearing. A court date was also set for October 28 this year. Mr. Philip was remanded in custody.
