Manchester United ‘make £17m bid for striker’ as Arsenal transfer race looms

Manchester United face a potentially busy summer in the transfer market, with the summer window opening on Friday.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos group are set to complete their review of the 2023/24 season this week, with manager Erik ten Hag’s future yet to be decided. United will turn their full attention to the transfer market as they look to revamp their first-team squad after a disappointing Premier League campaign.

United’s search for players will include two new centre-backs following the departure of Raphael Varane and a new striker. Anthony Martial’s departure will mean that Rasmus Hojlund will be the club’s only first-team striker.

And Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has claimed on X, formerly known as Twitter, that United have tabled a €15/20m (around £17m) bid for Sevilla striker Youssef En Nesyri. He adds that the Moroccan has approved a potential transfer.

The 27-year-old was previously linked with United at the end of 2021 when Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani were still at Old Trafford. En Nesyri scored 20 goals in all competitions for Sevilla in 2023/24.

Elsewhere, Sky Sports claim United and Arsenal are continuing to closely monitor Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee. AC Milan are also said to be chasing him heavily this weekend after talks in London.
