Stocksmoor: Plans for 50 homes run into local opposition

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS), externalconcerns raised around the development include the impact on the area and its wildlife, increased traffic and the number of homes envisaged in the plans.

One resident said: “I don’t think building 50 houses would benefit the local area as it would destroy part of Stone’s Wood, as well as being built in an area not designed for high traffic, which would have 50 new houses. bring.

“This would be most obvious on Shepley Road heading towards Shepley which is almost completely single carriageway.”

Another wrote: “My husband and I moved to Stocksmoor because it is a small village. In addition, 50 houses make a major contribution to the number of dwellings in the village – you are effectively building a small estate.

“It is simply too much and it is detrimentally changing the nature and character of the village forever.”
