Arsenal and Liverpool look set to see their summer transfer plans fall through, with Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa close to signing contract extensions with Juventus. The pair have been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent seasons but look set to remain in Serie A.

Mikel Arteta is keen to secure the services of a striker this summer, with Eddie Nketiah set to depart and pave the way for a replacement. Napoli star Victor Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney are among the options being explored as ready-made players.

The Gunners are also considering younger prospects who can be developed under Arteta’s tutelage, such as Brighton starlet Evan Ferguson and RB Leipzig talent Benjamin Sesko.

Vlahovic has also been regularly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, with interest in the 24-year-old dating back to when he was leading the line for Fiorentina. However, Arsenal could opt against resuming their pursuit of the Serbian international as Rudy Galetti reports that he is set to sign a new contract with Juventus.

Negotiations between the Old Lady and the striker have been ongoing for the past few months and a deal is now said to be on the cards. As a result, Juventus will not entertain any bid for Vlahovic, considering him one of their key players in both the short and long term.

Similarly, Chiesa is also on the verge of signing a new deal at the Allianz Stadium. The Italy international is currently contracted to Juve until 2025, but the club’s higher-ups have moved quickly to ensure he will not be heading into the final 12 months of his deal next summer.

Chiesa has also been linked with several Premier League outfits, with Liverpool among his strongest admirers. The 26-year-old has been touted as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah in the coming years, but a move for the former Fiorentina star looks unlikely to materialize now.

The Reds will therefore have to turn their attention to other options on the right wing, with incoming Liverpool manager Arne Slot said to be a long-term admirer of Crysencio Summerville, who could leave Leeds in this summer if he can’t. lead his Premier League team through the playoffs.
