Two arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after man, woman and child stabbed

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man, a woman and a primary school pupil were stabbed. Police were called to reports of an incident on Whernside, Carlisle, on Monday morning.

They were initially told there was a man with stab wounds, but they found the other victims when they arrived at the scene. A Carlisle Police spokesman said: “Police received a report at 8.06am today of a man with stab wounds.




“Officer attended and also found a woman and a child with stab wounds A 55-year-old man arrested is in police custody.

“A 53-year-old woman arrested remains in a stable condition in hospital. An injured primary school-aged girl also remains in hospital in a stable condition.

“There remains no risk to the public and they should expect to see a continued police presence in the area while officers carry out investigations.”
