Pedestrian hit by car on A50 near Glenfield Hospital

A pedestrian is in hospital after being hit by a car on the A50 in Leicester. The incident closed Groby Road for several hours, close to Glenfield Hospital.

An air ambulance was spotted at the scene of the incident, which happened at around 1.55pm yesterday (Sunday 9 June). Police said the pedestrian, a woman in her 20s, was taken to hospital where she remains. The extent of her injuries was not disclosed.




The crash, involving a white Alfa Romeo Mito, forced the closure of the county-wide section of the A50 from near the hospital to the junction with Homewood Drive. Police fully reopened the road around 10 p.m.

Research to determine the circumstances of the collision continues, the police said. Officers have appealed for anyone with dash cam footage of the incident or any other information to speak to them as soon as possible.
