Sheffield United in progress to sign attacking midfielder – The club are looking to offload the player

There are claims out of Turkey today that Sheffield United are showing an interest in attacking midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Besiktas.

The former England international only signed for the Black Eagles last summer when his contract with Liverpool expired.

Sabah have reported that Sheffield United are in the race to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain as they eye a return to England. The 30-year-old is said to be keen to return to his homeland after just one season in Istanbul.

It is also claimed that Besiktas are looking to offload the player, which would be a boost for Sheffield United ahead of any possible transfer talks.

The Blades will be looking to gain promotion back to England’s top flight and bringing in such an experienced player would be a statement of intent.

There are no reports of the transfer fee the Super Lig side would be asking for, but there is probably a chance they could let him go for a token fee or even for free.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made 30 appearances for Besiktas last season, scoring 4 goals. He is contracted to the club until June 2026.

Before Liverpool, he was at Arsenal after moving there from Southampton.
