Maya Jama hits out at online trolls and says ‘we should feel sorry for them’

Love Island host Maya Jama has had enough of online trolls and criticizes their behaviour, but also says they deserve a little mercy. In a rare post to her Instagram story, the Bristol star exposed her direct messages from a stranger who sent her a series of messages, including an apology for their actions.

The 29-year-old began her career in 2012 after moving to London to pursue a career in the media as an actress, and later as a TV presenter and fashion model. The star gained major popularity after dating popular Grime artist Stormzy in 2014, but has carved out an impressive career and earned her own fan base by hosting shows such as Maya’s FIFA World Cup Cities for Copa90, The Circle, RuPaul’s Drag Race and more.

However, since she took over as Love Island’s new presenter, replacing Laura Whitmore, the spotlight has shone on the star more than ever. This comes with an increase in negative comments and hateful online trolls. Taking to Instagram stories, Maya reacted to one of her trolls in a post that read: “For anyone who experiences mean comments from strangers online – on the rare occasion I do respond.

“9/10 times that’s the answer and no one has ever been rude to me in person…hopefully this reminds you that anyone who spends their time hurling abuse at strangers on the internet is usually a designed ap****, knowing that you should feel sorry for them, not angry at them’.

The online troll took to her direct messages to send her a string of apologies and said: ‘I’ve had a moment to collect my thoughts, clearly I was being bullied for no reason. I didn’t need to collect my thoughts. to realize that though.”

They continued, “You know how you just say shit sometimes because you’re thinking like hell, there’s no way there’s going to be any consequences for these words I’ve thrown. Clearly, what I did. .
