LIVE: Police cordon off busy road near Wigan as investigations carried out – latest updates

A busy road near Wigan is cordoned off by police this morning following an incident last night.

A stretch of Southworth Road, near Golborne Dale, is currently being cordoned off by officers. Several police cars are at the scene this morning.

According to traffic alert service Inrix, the road is closed in both directions from Parkside Road to Mill Lane. The incident took place on Monday evening around 22:00.

Investigation work is now being carried out at the scene, reports Inrix. It has not yet been confirmed if anyone was seriously injured.
