Yan Valery drops a major hint about his future amid transfer interest from Sheffield Wednesday

Yan Valery has dropped a major hint over a potential move to England amid interest from Sheffield Wednesday.

Yan Valery spent seven years in England with Southampton, coming through their academy and making his senior debut in 2018.

The defender returned to France with Angers, where he became a regular, relegating to Ligue 2 before being promoted again.

Valery could now be on his way back to England, with reports claiming he has agreed personal terms over a move to Sheffield Wednesday.

A deal for the right-back is still far from done, with The Star reporting that Standard Liege and Montpellier are both very interested in signing him.

Both teams could offer Valery top-flight football, although Valery recently dropped a hint that could suggest he would prefer a move to Hillsborough.

Yan Valery suggests he favors a move to Sheffield Wednesday

Speaking in an interview with 90football last week (quotes from The Star), Valery said: “Actually, I became English. When I go to England, I immediately feel this calmness and this way of life that I personally prefer…

“If I had the chance to go back to England, I would take it. I really felt a warmth and things that I think are normal for a human being. He should not be bitter or dislike his neighbor just because he is different or because he sees life differently. We all live together, if you can help your neighbor, you help him. It’s more like that in England. You find that less easily in France.”

The Owls could now have their first signing over the line

Despite having spent most of his life in France, Valery seems to favor a move back to England.

Given his past relationship with Danny Rohl from his time with the Saints, the German will be sure to convince him to move to the Championship.

The Owls will have to hope that no other English clubs decide to join the chase, but they will certainly have a big advantage if a Premier League side doesn’t come in.

Valery could be the first of many signings for Wednesday this summer, but he probably does not occupy a position in desperate need of strengthening.

Pol Valentin will have healthy competition, but the Owls’ left side is probably more of a concern.

Still, Wednesday has plenty of time to go and hopefully they can get business over the line early, just like they did with Rohl’s contract.
