Three men on trial for city center stabbing

Three men appeared in court today (Tuesday 11 June) to face charges following an incident in Weston-super-Mare in which a man suffered stab wounds.

Billy Lane, 23, from Ealing, appeared at Taunton Magistrates’ Court facing GBH with intent charges. He was remanded in custody. Also appearing alongside Lane were Nathan Smith, 33, and Kyle Nutley, 53, both from Weston-super-Mare. Smith and Nutley were released on conditional bail pending further hearings.

The charges relate to an incident in Alexandra Parade in which a man suffered stab wounds just before 9pm on Sunday (June 9). While he was rushed to hospital, the victim is not believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

Avon and Somerset Police were called to Alexandra Parade in Weston-super-Mare. Police rushed to the scene within minutes after an attack was spotted on CCTV.

BristolLive reported that four men were arrested after a knife was recovered from the scene. No further action will be taken against the fourth man, aged 28, who was also arrested following the incident.
