Liverpool’s ‘superb’ academy player could be set to shine at Euro 2024

Liverpool fans have a few good reasons to take in the Euro 2024 action over the next few weeks.

The first of these reasons is that football is back. After almost a month of missing Jurgen Klopp, there is finally something else to distract yourself from.

Another reason for Liverpool supporters is of course to check on the progress of their players. 10 members of the Reds squad will be featured in Germany and many will believe their country can win the tournament.

Finally, with the transfer window open, there is an opportunity to take a look at potential new signings. For example, reported Liverpool target Johan Bakayoko are set to explode.

Apart from these three big reasons, however, Reds fans have an additional, bonus basis to watch the European Championships.

Liverpool fans should watch Vitezslav Jaros

It’s not often that a Liverpool academy player is called up to a major international tournament.

The Reds are obviously used to first team players being involved and very occasionally winning things with their countries. But for their children, it just doesn’t happen.

That trend has been bucked this year, with academy goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros called up for the Czech Republic.

Jaros – who has excelled on loan with Sturm Graz since January – even made his senior national team debut during Friday’s 7-1 win over Malta.

At 22, Jaros is not as young as some who have been loaned out by Liverpool this season. But for a goalkeeper, he is still a baby.

For him to already be mixing it up with his country’s stars is a true testament to the strides Jaros has made in recent seasons.

And while he’s not traveling to Germany as Ivan Hasek’s first-choice goalkeeper, perhaps there’s still a chance Jaros could fit in.

In the Czech Republic’s two warm-up friendlies, Jaros and Matej Kovar each played 45 minutes, while Jindrich Stanek played 90. Kovar has just two caps and Stanek just 10. The door could still be open for Jaros.

Vitezslav Jaros is ready for the Liverpool role

It has been clear for a while now that Jaros has the potential to be first team at Liverpool.

Roll back the clock 12 months and Jaros was called “superb” during the U21 European Championships.

As a senior player, the Czech now has over 80 appearances under his belt. Many of them came in the lower leagues of England and Scotland, but playing time is important for a young goalkeeper.

With Caoimhin Kelleher likely to leave Liverpool this summer, things looked set for Jaros to take his place.

We think that if he can somehow force his way into a starting spot for his country over the next month, then that will become almost undeniable.

Even if that doesn’t seem to be the case, Liverpool fans should listen to Jaros’ assessments as the Czech’s aim is to at least get out of the group.
