Ryanair, Easyjet, TUI flights to Mallorca canceled, passengers told to ‘check airline’

A Spanish airport has been hit with delays and canceled ALL flights after massive flooding – with easyJet and Ryanair passengers affected. Palma de Mallorca Airport told passengers to check before traveling to the airport.

Images show planes on flooded runways and flights being diverted to other airports. Flooding has affected a number of British holiday spots on the Costa Blanca, including Benidorm, Valencia and Alicante.




The website states: “Palma de Mallorca Airport has temporarily limited operations due to the impact of a strong storm and has activated its flood emergency plan.” He added: “Check your company before going to the airport.”

They added that they had to activate the “emergency plan” after 45 liters of water fell in an hour. A spokesman added: “According to the Aemet met agency, almost 45 liters of rain fell per square meter in one hour, with peaks of up to 90 litres, causing flooding both at some airport access points and and in the terminal building”.

London Southend Airport wrote: “Due to poor weather in Palma de Mallorca tonight’s @easyJet departure (scheduled for 20.35L) to the Spanish city has been cancelled.” Eyewitnesses told the Majorca Daily Bulletin that it was “chaos” with travelers running for cover from the rain that came pouring through the roof.

Delayed flights between the UK and the Spanish airport include 17:15 from Southampton with British Airways, 17:30 from London Gatwick with easyJet, 17:35 to London Luton with easyJet, 18:25 from Birmingham with Ryanair, 18:30 from London Stansted with Ryanair, 19:00 from Leeds with TUI, 19:35 from London Heathrow with British Airways, 19:40 from London Stansted with Ryanair, 20:10 to London City with British Airways, 20:10 to London Stansted with Ryanair, 20:00 to Manchester with TUI and 21:10 to Manchester with TUI.
