Matty Wilson confirms 20-man scholarship squad for clash with Wigan

Hull KR scholarship head coach Matty Wilson has confirmed his 20-man squad to take on the Pennines and take on Wigan Warriors U16s at Golborne Parkside tomorrow from 7pm.

Robin juniors head to Wigan, with Evan Adamson and Will Glover looking to play their first game for the club’s scholarship team. Matty Wilson has so far fielded 32 players for Hull KR’s U16 outfit and will look to take it to 34 tomorrow night.

Following the Scholars win over Saints last month, two of the U16 players in Evan Williams and Drew Docherty have both represented their countries at junior level in Wales and Scotland respectively.

Evan helped the young Dragons to a 44-12 win over Ireland U16s in Dublin, scoring a try late in the second half. Drew captained Scotland U16s against England Community Lions and was awarded the Lions’ Man of the Match award in the 46-4 defeat of England.

The Scholars go into this match against Wigan unbeaten, having picked up wins against Huddersfield Giants, Bradford Bulls, Warrington Wolves and St. Helens.

It’s an impressive start to the 2024 campaign and our U16s will be looking to put another mark on the Warriors.
