Sheffield Wednesday have made a huge push in their pursuit of the former Celtic wonderkid

One of Sheffield Wednesday’s transfer targets looks set for a loan move this summer.

Sheffield Wednesday have already been linked with a number of players as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of a more competitive campaign of Championship football.

The Owls are desperate to bring in attacking reinforcements after loanees Ian Poveda, Ike Ugbo and Ashley Fletcher returned to their parent clubs, while Lee Gregory was released.

Danny Rohl’s contract renewal suggests Dejphon Chansiri are prepared to offer him transfer funds this summer, although that hasn’t stopped him looking back at the loan market after January’s success.

One player to watch on Wednesday is Karamoko Dembele, who had eight goals and 13 assists while on loan at Blackpool last term.

Despite failing to score since joining Brest from Celtic in 2022, it was unclear whether the French club would be open to letting Dembele leave for the 2024/25 season.

Could Karamoko Dembele leave Brest on loan again?

With two years left on his contract, Brest could be excused for wanting to pay a decent fee for his permanent exit – which could have been a financial struggle for the Owls.

However, The Star have now reported that he is “likely” to leave on loan again this summer.

Dembele has been linked with a long list of clubs including Leicester, Luton Town and Everton.

Competition for his signature will be fierce, but the Owls’ chances of landing him have certainly increased now that they are no longer looking for a permanent move.

Sheffield Wednesday can guarantee players regular minutes

The 21-year-old narrowly missed out on the League One play-offs with Blackpool last season, but surely the next step for him would be a move to the Championship.

Both Dembele and Brest are guaranteed to want regular first-team football wherever he ends up, so joining a Premier League club may not be the best idea for him.

If Wednesday can land someone of Dembele’s caliber and he can maintain his form from his time at Bloomfield Road, then he could really help push them higher in Danny Rohl’s first full season.
