Beloved restaurant near Bristol, among the UK’s best alfresco dining venues

A pub outside Bristol has been named in the UK’s top 100 for outdoor dining, according to a new list from Open Table. The Cross House Inn in Doynton impressed with its refurbished country pub interior and quality food options.

Discussing the creation of the list, the publication wrote: “As the weather warms, it’s time to dine alfresco. To help find the perfect al fresco spot, OpenTable scanned restaurant ratings and over 2.2 million reviews to narrow down the restaurants Brits love. outdoor dinner.




“The result is our annual Top 100 Outdoor Dining Restaurants, featuring delicious food in outdoor hot spots across the country.”

Cross House is described as a comfortable, cheerful and friendly place to visit. It serves classic pub food with a twist, real ales and a range of drinks.

Scoring a 4.8 out of five star rating from 1,187 Open Table reviews, Cross House has clearly won over a lot of people. Visitors raved about this “hidden gem”. One said: “Lovely rustic pub/restaurant. Warm friendly atmosphere and delicious food. It’s a hidden gem.”

And more people echoed the praise. One person said: “Absolutely fabulous food and all the staff delight us. We will definitely be back. Perfect”. A third added: “This place blows us away every time we visit. Delicious food, great staff and a beautiful setting. Thanks guys!”

Another nearby restaurant impressed enough to make the Top 100. The Old Thatched Cottage in Weston-super-Mare has 4.6 out of five stars from 1,420 reviews on Open Table.
