Party on! Coventry has been named the UK’s best city for festivals and events

Party-loving Coventry has been named the UK’s best city for creative events and festivals. It was also placed in the top 10 cities for creative minds – taking into account factors such as museums, art galleries and theatres.

The research was carried out by IT firm Adobe Express, which looked for alternative entertainment venues when only 200,000 people out of 2.5 million people got tickets to Glastonbury. And after crunching the numbers for 25 cities, we came up with the answer we knew all along – that Coventry was the place to be.




An Adobe spokesperson said: “Many residents will have missed out on going to Worthy Farm this year for the most anticipated festival of the year. An estimated 2.3m were disappointed. To soften the blow, we decided to take a closer look and discover the best cities for festivals and creative events in the UK, discovering Coventry comes out on top.”

According to the research, the Coventry area hosts 1,782 festivals or creative events a year – putting it ahead of London, Manchester and Leicester in second place. Events singled out for special mention were Picnic In The Park in Lavender Hall Park on June 22 and the Godiva Festival in War Memorial Park from July 5 to 7. 28 and Leamington Food and Drink Festival on 7 and 8 September.

Meanwhile, Adobe ranked Coventry as the sixth best city for creative minds. In addition to events and festivals, it looked at the number of museums, art galleries and theaters per 1,000 people and access to creative jobs and art schools to come up with an overall score. Brighton came out on top.

Coventry has been named UK City of Culture for 2021. Student website Vita echoes these findings when advising young people on what the city has to offer, saying: “Coventry is a diverse and inclusive city with a welcoming atmosphere . Coventry has a rich history and is home. to cultural attractions, including historic sites, museums and a vibrant arts scene.”
