New GP ‘super-surgery’ opens at Wembley Park, north-west London’s largest

A brand new, state-of-the-art medical center has opened in Repton Gardens, right in the heart of Wembley Park. The new Wembley Medical Center has moved and tripled the size of the previous practice, which was once located on Wembley Park Drive.

The center now spans an impressive 11,000 sq ft, delivered by Quintain, the developer of Wembley Park, and has the capacity to serve 25,000 patients in the local community. There are now rooms for 16 consultants, an administration center for online consultations and privacy rooms at reception.

The newly designed space has enabled the practice to increase staff levels, including new GPs, GP assistants, clinicians, administrators and reception staff. The waiting room is no longer stuffy and intense; it is now a soothing, comfortable and spacious area that has been decorated in natural shades of green and blue. The facility is fully wheelchair accessible with wider doors and a ramp.

After many years of trying to get this off the ground, the facility is a successful collaboration between Quintain Homes, Manser Architects, Brent Council and the vision of three key GP partners: Dr Sachin Patel, Dr Vishal Vala and Dr Ishani Patel.

“We aim to provide a continuously better service. This space allows us to improve quality of care and patient privacy,” explained Vishal.

The team were joined for the opening by local Brent councilors Neal Nerva and Mohammed Butt, leader of Brent Council.

The team embraces technology and innovation to improve practice efficiency. Their phone system is linked to patient records and will prioritize phone calls based on medical needs. Future ambitions for the center include installing an ultrasound machine and creating space for minor surgeries.

Dr Sachin P Patel, GP Partner at Wembley Park Medical Centre, said: “I have been a GP at the practice for 11 years and am delighted to be opening the new space, which now allows us to serve a greater proportion of people. the community. Our new location will continue to have that familiar, family-like approach that it has had since the practice began in 1970.

“This new purpose-built facility is suitable for modern care and treatment, with state-of-the-art primary care facilities and services, as well as an increase in staff. This will not only bring major benefits to the local community but also to our staff who have been working in cramped conditions for many years. I am grateful for the time and investment that Quintain and Brent Council have put into improving our local services.”

Repton Gardens is a residential development a stone’s throw from the iconic Wembley Stadium, delivered by Quintain, who have been the developer at Wembley Park for the past 22 years.

Staff at the center also feel the improvement. Dr Patel said staff satisfaction had increased due to improved workplace wellbeing. Staff are encouraged to exercise and the facility provides showers for staff members who choose to run or cycle.

James Saunders, chief executive of Quintain, commented: “This new GP surgery will increase the provision of high quality healthcare in the Brent borough for new and existing residents in a purpose-built facility. From the outset, our Wembley Park masterplan has sought to provide everything local residents need to live healthy and happy lives in their neighbourhood.

“At Quintain, we believe that access to healthcare is a fundamental aspect of a thriving community and we are proud to support the provision of these essential services. We look forward to continuing our efforts to support the health and wellbeing of both our residents and our local community and to deliver an exceptional quality of life in Wembley Park.”
