Birmingham’s poet laureate talks about future literacy programmes

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Birmingham Poet Laureate Salaam Green spoke with CBS 42’s Sherri Jackson about his new book of poetry and efforts to improve literacy.

Over 200 copies of Once Upon a Magic City were distributed free in Birmingham.

Green also stated that an announcement regarding the city’s Poet Fellow programs will be made soon. Two local poets will be nominated to create and facilitate summer programming for youth and adults this July at Birmingham Public Libraries.
