Every word from Leeds United boss Daniel Farke on Will Ferrell’s fresh investment at the Whites

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has welcomed the news that Hollywood actor Will Ferrell has become a minority shareholder in the Championship club. It emerged last weekend that Ferrell had bought a stake in the Whites, joining the list of celebrity investors at Elland Road.

The Whites are owned by 49ers Enterprises, the investment arm of the San Francisco-based 49ers NFL franchise, and their shareholders include a number of US sports stars, including Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas. Ferrell, the star of numerous films including Elf, Anchorman, Step Brothers, Daddy’s Home and Bewitched, is a big sports fan.

Farke said, “We need every man; it’s always good! He’s a great actor and we’re all happy he’s on board. It’s always good, but I don’t think it will help us much at Norwich to get the ball into the box!

“It says a lot about the caliber of the club. We have a lot of well-known and popular supporters. We are thankful and grateful for that because we need every man.

“But it’s up to the players to bring the success. We can’t work the ball over the line, so we have to make sure we get it over the line.”

Farke’s side faced his former club Norwich City in the Championship play-offs after missing out on automatic promotion. The first leg is at Carrow Road on Sunday with a midday kick-off and the return leg is on Thursday 16 May. The winner of the two-leg tie will face either Southampton or West Bromwich at Wembley later this month.
