Firefighters tackle Coventry fire caused by ‘carelessly discarded cigarette’

Firefighters have been called to tackle a blaze in Coventry which was caused by a ‘carelessly discarded cigarette’. It happened at Middlemarch Business Park.

Crews from Kenilworth Fire Station were called to Siskin Drive at around 1.10pm on Monday (June 10). A bin and wooden pallets were found on fire between two buildings, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said.




A hose reel jet was used to tackle the fire and wet the materials, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said. Crews spent about 15 minutes at the scene, leaving at around 1.25pm.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 1.09pm on Monday 10 June to a small fire at Middlemarch Business Park in Coventry.

“An appliance attended the scene and on arrival found a bin and pallets on fire against a building. A single hose reel was used to wet the materials.”
