Taylor Swift’s candid teenage notes fetch £14,200 at London’s Bonhams auction | My news from London

A fascinating glimpse into the mind of teenage Taylor Swift has sold for £14,200. The handwritten notes, which are part of a quiz for MIZZ magazine, include doodles and even confessions from Taylor, 19, that she was insecure about her looks.

The highly sought-after notes were auctioned by Bonham’s in London on Wednesday (June 12). The teenage Swift confessed: “If I could be anyone else for a day, I would be… Rachel McAdams or Miranda Kerr. I wonder what it’s like to be so pretty.”

The singer, who is currently on her Eras tour in the UK, included a doodle of a cartoon girl holding a guitar with a speech bubble stating: “I love writing songs about boys.”

Bonham’s revealed the backstory behind these prospects, saying: “In August 2009, the salesman working for MIZZ Magazine as a feature writer met Taylor Swift and her mother in London at her hotel. The seller asked her to sign her copy of MIZZ Magazine. which had Taylor on the cover She asked him to fill out the questionnaire for a future issue’.

Interestingly, the question “Who would Taylor rather kiss” was black-inked by the pop star’s mother after going over the questions before the date. Despite this attempt at censorship, the names Taylor Lautner, Joe Jonas and Zac Efron can still be seen.

Expected to be worth between £2,000 and £3,000, the survey fetched much more than anticipated. Among other notable responses was Swift’s proudest moment: “My proudest moment was… When every show on my first headlining tour SOLD OUT this year and being on the cover of Rolling Stone.”

Taylor’s other answers to the quiz included: “My biggest secret is… who the song ‘Love Story’ is about.” I’ll never tell!” and “I can’t live without… ‘My guitar.’ In an emotional tribute to her fans, the note described Swifties as “The most beautiful, dedicated, creative, funny, sign-making, dress-wearing, amazing people. I love them”.
