Taylor Swift fans are being asked to protest her Eras Tour shows

Chris Packham urges Taylor Swift fans to protest at her concerts. As the pop star heads to Liverpool, Cardiff and London for the UK leg of her Eras tour, Packham is asking attendees to bring banners as a form of protest against her “over-reliance on private jets”.

The international pop star made headlines recently for using more than 1,000 times the amount of fuel of the average person while traveling around the world in her private jet. BBC Springwatch presenter Packham says Swift should clean up her act.

Speaking to The Mirror, he said: “I think Taylor Swift has enormous power. She is speaking to an audience that will have significant problems in their lives due to climate breakdown and biodiversity loss.

“And she should be at the forefront of trying to help make her future safer and more sustainable. What a missed opportunity.

“You should actually say, ‘You know what, thanks for pointing that out.’ I’m going to switch to flying commercial airplanes.”

National Autistic Society ambassador Packham added: “We all accept that they need to travel around the globe – we’re not saying stop touring. We say do it in the most environmentally friendly way possible.”

Packham, 63, says he would like to see people taking part in Taylor’s record-breaking Eras Tour taking a stand. He continued: “Wouldn’t it be great if all those 16-year-olds showed up to the concert with signs saying, ‘Drop your private jets’?”

Taylor Swift, 34, owns a Dassault Falcon 7X, valued at £42 million. The plane was used as the main means of transportation during the tour, according to reports.
