Manchester United ‘agree personal terms’ with transfer target, £150,000-a-week offer

Manchester United have moved a step closer to signing Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

The Premier League powerhouse have agreed personal terms over a move to Manchester United, reports The Times.

Jarrad Branthwaite, 21, has become a key target for Manchester United as the club look for a centre-back following the exit of Raphael Varane.

Manchester United want to make Branthwaite the club’s first signing of the summer.

Manchester United are negotiating for Jarrad Branthwaite

Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Jarrad Branthwaite which would see the centre-back earn between £150,000 and £160,000-a-week.

No fee has yet been agreed with Everton, who want up to £70m for the defender.

Manchester United see Branthwaite as more in the £50m range.

Everton’s poor financial position means they have to cash in before the end of June for accounting purposes.

The Mail earlier reported that Manchester United would make an opening bid for the defender.

Branthwaite not at Euro 2024

Jarrad Branthwaite has been left out of England’s Euro 2024 squad despite an injury to Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.

This makes a potential deal for Branthwaite less complicated as he has no international involvement as a distraction.

It also ensures that Branthwaite’s fee cannot be increased further, which could have happened had he played a key role for England in the tournament.

Branthwaite may not be United’s only defender signing, with The Times claiming the club want to sign two centre-backs.
