Daniel Farke has welcomed Will Ferrell on board at Leeds – but he’s not sure the Anchorman star will help them beat Norwich.

Ferrell is buying Leeds’ owners 49ers Enterprises from his native California, and Farke is delighted the actor is joining Russell Crowe in owning a stake in the club. But Farke does not believe his arrival will make any immediate difference on the pitch, with Leeds taking on Norwich at Carrow Road in the first leg of their play-off semi-final on Sunday.

“We need every man, it’s always good,” said the Leeds boss. “It’s always good when investors support the interests of the club. He is a great, great actor. We’re all happy he’s on board but I don’t think he’ll help us much in Norwich!

“It’s nice to have that and it says a lot about the caliber of this club that we have a lot of well-known and popular supporters. We are thankful for that and thankful that we need every man.

“But it’s also up to the players to bring the success we want and get the ball over the line.” Farke struggled to get his side talking after they lost four of their last six Championship games to miss out on automatic promotion.

Leeds have also failed in all five of their previous play-off campaigns and Farke insists they are a team for the big occasion. “One thing’s for sure, I wouldn’t trade a player in this team,” he said. “I totally believe in them.

“We’ve talked quite a lot about the winning mentality I think we have because when it’s a special occasion, when there’s games really in the spotlight, we’re good. We played against Leicester twice and won twice. We played twice against Ipswich and won twice.
