The ITV This Morning host is pulling out of the show in a last-minute flurry

This Morning may face a big change as Dermot O’Leary steps down from his usual Friday presenting role alongside Alison Hammond. The 51-year-old, who is known for filling in for Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley on Fridays, will be replaced by Josie Gibson for the upcoming show on June 14.

Meanwhile, ITV may have to fight to keep their popular duo together amid reports that the BBC is trying to lure Alison Hammond with a solo project. The broadcaster is said to have offered the much-loved presenter, who has been a hit with viewers since joining This Morning in 2002, her own travel show.

Speculation is rife that the new program could be scheduled this morning. The BBC has already secured Alison’s talents for a celebrity interview series called Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend, which sees her spend 48 hours with a celebrity, exploring their lives.

The Mirror suggests the travel show would be a perfect fit for the 49-year-old single mum, who worked as a holiday rep before working on Big Brother in 2002.

A TV insider revealed to The Sun: “This is an ongoing nightmare for ITV as Alison is seen by them as one of their biggest stars – but she is increasingly working for their rivals. The travel show is the latest tempting offer he has accepted from the BBC. executives are relishing the fact that they can go head-to-head with This Morning.”, reports the Express.

They also commented: “It could lead to Alison being seen hosting the daytime magazine show on ITV while simultaneously being seen on BBC One.”

The travel show is titled Florida Unpacked and is set to highlight the US Sunshine State, but future series may take Alison to different global locations. Filming is scheduled to begin next month and continue throughout September. The show is expected to air next year.
