Leeds United in talks to re-sign £30,000-a-week player

Burnley defender Connor Roberts is being targeted by Leeds United on a permanent move, according to The Athletic.

After losing his starting position at Turf Moor under Vincent Kompany, Roberts moved on loan to Elland Road midway through the previous season.

He went on to make 15 appearances for Leeds as they progressed to the Championship play-off final.

Daniel Farke’s side missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

The Whites lost to Southampton in the play-off final despite finishing just a few points behind Championship winners Leicester City.

Leeds United in talks to re-sign £30,000-a-week player
Leeds United are being linked with a move for Burnley’s Connor Roberts.

For most of his time with the Whites, he has not been the team’s first-choice right-back, but if he returns this summer, it is thought he could play a bigger role.

Leeds now face the possibility of a rebuild this summer as they prepare to mount another challenge next season after missing out on promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds United want Roberts on a permanent move

According to The Athletic, Roberts is the Whites’ target for a permanent move, although his future is largely dependent on who manages Burnley following the departure of Vincent Kompany.

With a year remaining on his current deal in Lancashire, Roberts is believed to be considering his options and Leeds are waiting in the wings before trying to complete a deal.
