Sheffield Wednesday look set for a busy summer in the transfer market.

Sheffield Wednesday can finally get on with their summer preparations after beating the drop in the Championship thanks to a 2-0 win at Sunderland on the final day of the season.

And owner Dejphon Chansiri is reportedly doing his best to encourage Danny Rohl to stay in S6, with improvements to the training ground and talks of a new contract for the German manager.

Sheffield Wednesday are keeping an eye on Duncan McGuire

Sheffield Wednesday missed out on Orlando City and USMNT striker Duncan McGuire during the winter transfer window.

It was a chaotic deadline day for McGuire, who was going to and from Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday as well, hoping to seal a move to the Championship.

He ultimately missed both, and is now back at Orlando City, where he started the MLS season with four goals in nine games.

It is reported that Sheffield Wednesday have continued to track McGuire, who currently has offers from Belgium and Germany.

Sheffield Wednesday are tracking the loan of James Beadle

Someone who Owls made His January signing was 19-year-old goalkeeper James Beadle on loan from Brighton.

He went on to keep eight clean sheets in 19 league outings for Wednesday, playing a key role in eventually getting the club over the line.

Since the end of the season, Alan Nixon has claimed that Sheffield Wednesday are keen to re-sign Beadle on loan, with the youngster out of the first-team picture at Brighton.

Clubs join the race to sign Ian Poveda

It’s no secret that Sheffield Wednesday want to bring Ian Poveda back to Hillsborough permanently this summer.

He is out of contract at Leeds United but the Owls now face fresh competition for his signature, with reports on Friday revealing that Burnley, Luton Town and Sunderland are keen on the 24-year-old.

His Leeds side remain in the Championship play-offs and so his future is likely to become clearer once their season is over.

Di’Shon Bernard wanted

Sheffield Wednesday also want to keep Di’Shon Bernard beyond this summer, but he is also of interest to other clubs.

The 23-year-old centre-back is out of contract next month and emerging reports say Bernard is also interested in the Championship from elsewhere in Europe.

There is no indication whether or not he will stay in S6, although Sheffield Wednesday are desperate to keep hold of him.

Sheffield Wednesday fantasy meeting Ike Ugbo

Ike Ugbo was the first of the three players to sign on loan in January.

He was followed by Beadle and Poveda out the door and Sheffield Wednesday are also keen to re-sign him this summer, with his parent club Troyes facing relegation to France’s third tier.

The Owls are said to be looking for a permanent deal, although whether or not they will have the resources to do so remains to be seen.

George Byers attracted widespread interest

One player whose summer exit has now been confirmed by reports is George Byers.

The midfielder will leave Sheffield Wednesday after three seasons after spending the second half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan with Blackpool.

He is set to become a free agent but already has interest from a number of League One clubs, including Sheffield Wednesday’s South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley and Rotherham United.
