Leeds United have already started making cosmetic improvements to parts of Elland Road ahead of the 24/25 season, with Paraag Marathe previously stating that the club intend to push ahead with the development plans.

Elland Road is considered one of Britain’s great historic grounds, but for a long time, the stadium was neglected by the owners.

Fortunately, with Paraag Marathe at the helm as club president, plans are in place and starting to be followed for significant development of the stadium.

Paraag Marathe shares Elland Road expansion plans

Marathe recently spoke of plans to expand Elland Road to a capacity of over 50,000 to cope with current ticket demands from the Whites faithful.

Via The Athletic, he said:

“We are still very much in the long run to do this. It’s been reported that nothing will happen until we get to the Premier League – that’s a bit of a myth.

“All the preparation work we have to do before we hit the ground running, it really didn’t matter if we were in the Championship or the Premier League. There is still significant work and investment to align all the things you do before you put a shovel in the ground. We would do that anyway and continue on this path.

“If you ask me in a year, it might be a little more complicated because at that point, I’d be done with a shovel. But everything has the green light, as it would in both cases.”

Are you happy that Red Bull have invested in Leeds?

Images: Leeds are already improving Elland Road this summer

LeedsLive said at the start of June that the club are already looking to make minor cosmetic improvements to several areas of the ground, primarily the East Stand, North East Stand and West Stand – with the North and South Stands coming further.

Now, we’ve seen glimpses of this already underway, with colorful murals stretching across the stairwells of the East Stand, as shared by artist and author Robert Endeacott:

A number of works have been shared by Endeacott, including tributes to the late Gary Speed, as well as Leeds band Kaiser Chiefs and others:

Incredible work to bring more life to the halls of Elland Road

The need for TLC was great at Elland Road, but developments like this are really great to see, making the stadium that much more vibrant.

It is encouraging to see Marathe and the 49ers keeping their word to ensure the club becomes Premier League quality in every department.

Achieving promotion is of course the only way to restore the club’s status on the pitch, but improvements across the board are what the fans want to see in the meantime too.
