Greater Manchester Police today confirmed that a 71-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of obstructing a lawful burial.

Five other suspects, aged between 20 and 70, remain on bail after being arrested in April.

The force also revealed that a post-mortem examination had failed to establish a cause of death, with further tests ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector John Davies said: “Our investigation is incredibly complex, with multiple detectives and specialists dedicated solely to establishing the full circumstances of what happened.

“We remain open to our questions and we are making progress.

“As we have previously assured, this is being treated as an isolated incident and no other remains of other individuals have been found in connection with this investigation.”

The horror unfolded on April 12 when the remains were discovered two days after police received welfare concerns.

It is understood that the baby, whose gender has not been revealed, was known to social services, the MEN reported.

Police returned to the scene a few weeks later but confirmed there were no other remains at the property.
