Male Named in EncroChat Probe

A 54-year-old man has been charged with supplying cocaine as part of an investigation into encrypted devices.

Carl Patrick Murphy, of Home Farm Road, Knowsley Village, was arrested on Thursday, June 13, in connection with information found in Operation Venetic: a national investigation into the use of EncroChat mobile devices.

Data relating to the supply of significant quantities of cocaine and cash.

Murphy has since been charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine and conspiracy to conceal/disguise/transfer/dispose of criminal property. He was remanded in custody to appear at Wirral Magistrates Court today (Friday, June 14).
