The cheapest places in Leicestershire for petrol and diesel as prices start to drop

Market Harborough is once again the cheapest place for petrol in Leicestershire. The latest figures show prices are finally starting to fall amid the ongoing cost of living crisis.

The latest findings from data from petrol suppliers and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) show that as of Friday June 14, the Sainsbury’s garage in St Mary’s Close in Market Harborough is the cheapest in Leicestershire. Prices here are currently set at 140.9 per liter for petrol.




That makes Market Harborough £1 per liter cheaper than its nearest rival. It’s also down 3p per liter at the same pumps in just one week, according to CMA data.

On average, UK drivers are paying £146.2 per liter of petrol this week. In Leicestershire, the average is 141.9 per liter – that’s 0.3 per liter less than drivers elsewhere in the UK.

  • 140.9p – Sainsbury’s, St. Mary’s Place, Market Harborough
  • 141.9p – BP, Melton Road, Kibworth
  • 142.9p – Esso, Station Road, Market Bosworth
  • 142.9p – Jet, Flyover, Leicester
  • 143.7p – Morrisons, Station Road, Glenfield
  • 143.9p – Sainsbury’s, Grove Farm Triangle, Enderby
  • 143.9p – Texaco, Parker Drive, Abbey
  • 143.9p – Shell, 50/52 Wanlip Road, Syston
  • 144.8p – Applegreen, Watling Street, Hinckley

Meanwhile, Leicestershire’s most expensive yard remains the BP station in the Donington service area for junction 23a of the M1 at Castle Donington. Here, petrol is currently priced at 169.9 a liter – meaning it would cost a total of £93.45 to fill up an average family car at this yard.

Apart from petrol, Market Bosworth is the cheapest for diesel this week. According to the CMA, diesel from the Esso yard costs 144.9p per litre.
