Rothesay Classic Birmingham 2024: Sloane Stephens, Harriet Dart and Heather Watson get wild cards

More stars have been added to the line-up at the Rothesay Classic Birmingham as Sloane Stephens, Harriet Dart and Heather Watson receive wild cards into the main draw.

The Rothesay Classic Birmingham kicks off with the qualifiers this weekend at Edgbaston Priory Club before the main draw gets under way on Monday 17th June.

StephensDart and Watson join former World No. 1 and Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki as participants in this year’s event.

The 2017 US Open champion and former Roland Garros runner-up, Stephens heads to Birmingham after winning her eighth career title this season at the Open Capfinances Rouen Métropole in Rouen. The 31-year-old reached the quarter-finals in Birmingham the last time she played in 2014, but is also a former semi-finalist at Eastbourne.

Dart is ready to play after narrowly losing out in a three-hour epic against reigning champion Katie Boulter in the first round of the Rothesay Open Nottingham. The Bit made her first WTA semi-final earlier this year at the Transilvania Open and last year reached the quarter-finals in Birmingham after defeating Jodie Burrage and world number 26 Anhelina Kalinina.

Watson always brings her best to the grass court season, where she has enjoyed many career bests, including a fourth round at Wimbledon in 2022 and semi-finals at Nottingham (2023), Birmingham (2021) and Eastbourne ( 2014 and 2017).
